THE PROPHET BEARS HARM FROM ALL PEOPLE
To see how Prophet Muhammad could conciliate the hearts of people and attracted them strongly to the lights of (Allah) the One and the Only, Allah says:
"Show forgiveness, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the foolish (i.e. don't punish them)." 7-199
This is what his Lord ordered him, and this is what he was always like in all his conditions and deeds. Look at that Arabian who entered at the prophet's sitting, and addressed him harshly. The man was known for his violent personality and rough nature. When he entered, the prophet smiled for him and spoke to him gently. When the prophet was told that the man was coming in he said:
"What a bad man he is!" After the man had left, Lady A'isha said: "O messenger of Allah, you said what you said and you spoke to him kindly." He said: "O A'isha, the worst man to Allah is that who is avoided by people because of his evil."
To make it clearer, we say that he never returned an offense to anyone, why? If he requited the offenses of people, they wouldn't respond to his call. He wanted to call them to the book of Allah, the decree of Allah and the religion of Allah, so he showed them by his call, his condition and his manner that this is the religion of Allah and that His prophet bears offenses in order to spread the words of Allah and clarify the religion of Allah to all people.
